Chinese New Year Eve

Time flies and its already another year... another Chinese New Year. My second Chinese New Year in Newcastle. To be honest, CNY to me is nothing... haha... Maybe its because we have a small family, we dont have that kind of fun other familes have... with bunch of relatives having reunion dinner together... Do everything in a big gang (Gamble, eat, talk, cook, shop) and VERY NOISY. CNY gotta be NOISY to be MERRY. Our way is too quiet.. too peaceful.. haha.. What ever... CNY to me is all about SHOPPING, EATTING... EATTING and ANG BAO. Haha..

How ever, this year's CNY is abit different compared to last year's. THis time, Brian's here and his beloved mum sent basically everything needed during CNY here. Ahaha..all the kuih muih - kuih ka pek, kuih bangkit, lap cheong, lao-sang etc. We even have Bah Gua last night. MAN... BAH GUA TASTE BEST!!!!!! I think I can have 5kg of Bah Gua and finish it within a day! I swear I can!! It taste sooo DAMN GOOD!!!! I cant imagine if the ang-mohs taste that... they will crave for more and more and more... just like me.. haha... the honey luscious taste!! Oh God... TAKE MY LIFE for those meats!!!! HAha... As its not my stuff, not sent by my own family, I dont dare to eat more than 1 slice ><... although I want to eat the whole plate!!!! Thats just my way of dealing with people. As Brian being here, we have a chef for our reunion meal. As Dan works at night, we had reunion lunch instead of dinner. He cooked... Tomyam deep fried fish, Prawn, Herbal soup and Vege. The tomyam fish was supposed to be the main dish.. but it appears that the fish wasnt really cooked. THe outer meat was alright, but not the center. So Brian recooked the thing and we continue eating. Chinese always name this after something good, especially during such festive season. Fish [yu] - Yu Yu Dak Sui
Prawn [har] - ?
Everyone couldnt figure out what can that word be related to anything prosperous. Guess what brilliant Brian thought of - XIEW HA HA [har] Sounds the same right... AHaha...

Whats reunion dinner? Must it be very poshy and expensive? I dont think so... but looks like they take it that way... THey must have fish and prawn. Its after all a meal, must it be that way? Weird.

Tommorow's gonna be Chor Yat - We are going to be vegetarians!!!! To bad we cant find the vegeterian duck Grandma always prepare in Ipoh. Brian wanted to have that too!! Same as everyone... =)
Tomorrow will be another great day I believe. Want to go shopping!!! Hopefully I got the mood to do so...

GONG HEI FAT CHOI EVERYONE.
May everyone in GOOD HEALTH and have a PROPEROUS NEW DOGGIE YEAR ...
ANG BAO MANY MANY LOH = )

My current favourite VIDEOS and songs...

Kiss Goodbye by Lee Hom Wang
Man I admire and LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE guys who can play the piano!! He looked so charming wit the piano!!! His eyes were full with passion and LOVE LOVE!!! MAN I LOVE LEEE HOM!!!!! I wanna MARRRY HIM!!! HAHA..!!!!

Feng by Jay Chou
Omg... I still LOVE LOVE LOVE Jay!!! haha... The MV's reallly SAD!!! He sacrifies his love for the girl for his best friend!!! Damn it!!! How can it be!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this song very very very much!!!! Everything's nice.. the lyrics the music.. and of course the singer! Hehe...

People asked me.. Who will I choose between Lee Hom and Jay Chou. That really got me.. haha.. After some thinking, I very agree wit Da S.
Lee Hom is the type to get married with while Jay is the type to just have fun and pak tuo.
Why say so? Lee Hom gives me a feeling that you will always be safe with him while Jay doesnt.. haha.. Maybe its because Lee Hom is older and have a more mature look.
What ever it is - MARRY LEE HOM, PAK TUO with Jay.. HAHA...
[Talking as if they know me and its going to be true... haha]

But one thing true is - Guys who know how to play the piano definately scored for me!! Haha.. NOw I think the first thing I look for in a guy is - Does he know how to play the piano? Ahaha..

Damn BUS

I couldnt believe my eyes. The bus delibrately drove pass me this morning! I was like - WHAT THE HELL!!!! That forced to take the 7.11am bus. I wasted 15 minutes doing nothing outside the icy weather.
Actually I wanted to take the 7.11am bus when the alarm rang. But in second thoughts, arriving at work earlier means leaving earlier. So... I forced my ass out from the bed. If I would know I 'll miss the 6.55am bus... I WILL NOT WAKE UP SO EARLY!!!!!!! DAMN!!!!!!

Today's the Romeo & Juliet play.We were suppose to have our dinner in TienTien, but the its freaking cold tonight and my knee was freezing (I wore a knee length skirt without any stocking). To avoid being freeze to death, we went to Comic City first to get some stuff then to Ichiban for dinner.
After being warm in the shop, we felt much better and stick to our original plan to Tien Tien.

Whats for dinner? Scallops Egg fried rice, Kai-lan & Prawn dumpling soup * Yummy *. Its my very first time having so much kai-lan. Luckily we ordered only a portion of fried rice, [*Note: We ordered a plate of fried rice which is meant to be for a PERSON] cause we cant even finish that plate. I finised the dumpling thou.. haha.. Always love that =)

When we finished our dinner, its only 6pm. As the show starts only at 7.30pm, we have exactly 1 and a half hours to waste... So we decided to pay our old friend a visit - Snooker Center. Its been almost 8 months we never stepped foot there. Since Dan's graduated, and school reopening, everyone's busy with their own matters.
We were really surprised to see the shop fully booked. Maybe its because the Snooker Championship just ended not long ago, everyone's still heat with this game. Thinking that they are Ding Junhui or Steve Davis.
We didnt want to be vase there, so we played American Pool. Its my first time playing a real pool game. Its quite fun actually and its quite addictive (when you score). I didnt know how to pose my ass. Is it only girls stick their butt out or guys do so too? Cause I think my butt's a S shape.. haha... ANd I was wearing heels, of course the pose will be abit WEIRD. I enjoyed the game but the shop was getting pack, we decided to make a move and walk around.

We went to Wintersones as its the only shop thats not yet close. Got a Newcastle Scenary book as a souvenir for ourselves... haha..
Then only we headed for Theatre Royal down Grey Street.

Romeo& Juliet by Moscow City Ballet

The foyer was crowded with audience when we arrived, 7.15pm. There were stalls selling Moscow City Ballet's souvenirs (tees, badges, calenders, teddys etc) and I got myself a badge ^^.
I put our coats at the cloak room! How cool is that?! The 'COOLEST' or DUMBEST happened when we need to tip the guy (who is really cute) who was incharge of taking the coats. We didnt have any chance at that moment, the smallest we have is a £5 note. SO guess what? STupid Dan gave him £5 (I know mum and dad will kill us if they were here = o). It made him feel good (according to him). Its sort of bring us back to the olden days where aristocrats go for theater, plays and tip ppl.. haha.. Anyway we are not aristocrats.
We found out the cafe in the theater is really cool and I am guessing they serve really goood food and coffee cause the aroma of the coffee beans smells heavenly.

We went for our seats at the stall. We were the only chinese there and rest of them are mostly elderly people, and I mean RICH elderly people. ITs understandable, only them have the time and pleasure for this 3 hours play and of course the money.
At that day, (i think) an old folks disable home's people were invited to the play too. The sat at all the end of every row as most of them were in wheal chair. One of them was sitting right in front of me. I felt so sad for them and at the same time truely respect them. Respect them for having the courage, strenght and dignity to live on even at the worse condition. Maybe using WORSE is abit over. I feel sad cause inspite of being disable, they too dont have any family members beside them, to company them and to share their painfulness. All the have is they themselves and fellow old folks who share the same fate as them. The social workers too got to have the credits. They were so dedicated with their job. You can see that from their attitude and the look they shown when they took care of them. Pushing them to their place, wiping their mouth, putting on a coat for them and talking with them. They made them feel that they are still being LOVED, being care-d. Dan were telling me one of old folk's saliva is dripping and I told him to shut up and never laugh or comment on them cause one day no one knows, you or me might be in their place... sharing the same fate...

Westerners will always be more punctual than Asians (i think). The show starts at 7.30pm sharp. Guys will always be guys. They will always not appreaciate such show. Dan was complaining boring at the begining of it. As its a 3 hours and 2 minutes show, there's a break in between every 1 hour. It got much much much better at the 2nd session where all the excitments began. How the affair started etc.
I cant imagine those ballerina standing on their toes for 3 long hours... That would be like hell. I like Juliet as she's really pretty and she dance really well. Romeo's hot too!! haha... But I dont think Russians look as hot as French. I think the hottest dudes can be found mostly in France... haha... Some how they have this charm others dont have... haha...
Juliets dresses were all very very pretty. There's these 4 extras (haha..) who are SUPER DUPER gorgeous. They wore white all the time amd I think sort of play the role of bridesmaid? Anyway, the aristocrats' dress are reallly elegant. Just like what they show in the movies - Nice and classsy.
The other funny thing was the guy's costumes. The top was alright... but the bottom was abit akward +). I cant imagine if all guys in this world wearing that!!
Luckily life isnt like ballet, if not everything is silence and all movements are SOOOOOOO stupid... haha... I dont think I am a person who can appreciate dance and art as well as the westerners. I like to watch them, but I dont think I will be crazy over it.
The live orchestra was great... and the music was splendid. Thats all, nothing more... haha... Some people can get very excited with it and keep on watching the same thing over and over.

The ending part was another unforgetable moment. Everyone started to applause the minute Juliet died. Since then the applause didnt stop -_-. Everyone bow and bow and bow and bow and bow again!!!! I think thats abit too long? 5 minutes? Isnt that abit too long?? My arms were aching to be honest. Dan and I kept on saying - Where the hell is this going to end?? In Hokkien of course..haha..
The audience loved the guy who plays Tybalt (Talgat Kozhabaev) more than Romeo. Reason being - HE LOOKS HOTTER.. haha... He got a chinese look, make me wonder is he a chinese born russian.

The Nutcracker will be on from Wednesday to Friday. It seems that they are having their 2005/2006 UK Tour. Every destination has different play on. I really want to watch Cinderella and Swan Lake... But its not going to be shown in Newcastle -_-.. Nevermind... I think I will be watching Nutcracker this Friday. This time I might go for the cheapest one... haha...

From the theater, we headed to Bannatyne Casino. A place that let me learn something new... something I never thought I will ever accept.

Bannatyne's Casino

Its my first time being to a casino and I leart something very valuabe from it. When I arrived, the receptionist asked me want to be a member or just as a guest -_- so I sign up to be a member.

Bannatyne's a new casino everything looks new inside. I dont really know cause I cant make any comparison. It was only 11pm, and there werent many people there. We played roulette first then 3 cards poker.
The first dealer we met was really ONG! I asked Dan why... he said look at her huge breast... haha... We gave her a nick name - Bak Fat Dai Boh Lui Wong (White hair big breast witch). haha

I prefered 3 cards poker than roulette. And I love one of the dealer, Jazz. She's really sweet and helpful. Chat with her and she's really a nice girl. One thing good about this job is -you can play without loosing a penny. Make things even better, you can loose all the money can still not be broke.. haha...

Only today I know why people can get into gambling. Gambling is really easy money, but everything that comes easily, losses easily too. I see a few chinese there playing. The way the played is really crazy. They invested in LOTS of number. In chinese they called Sin Lui San Fa (Angels spreading water). Their face expression was really scary.. anything that gets into their way is DEAD. I can swear those expression will never ever appear when it comes to studies...
There's this BBC there playing 3 cards poker with us. MAN HE IS CUTE ^^.

Now I understnad the trill of gambling. Gambling can only be fun when you are not playing for the money but for the fun. When you play with preasure that will be very horrible. If you want to gamble, you got to have to be able to loose, prepared to loose cause gambling is about loossing and winning. There wont be always WINNING. There's no GOD of GAMBLE in the world. Dan told me there;s a hk girl lost all £9k and got herselves into a few debt. So ended up being a UNCLE's sort of misstress. How sad and pathetic is that....

Although we lost that day. I dont feel really bad. Its a form of entertainment (If you take it the right way). Its something like shopping, just that for shopping you get satisfaction in the form of material while gambling is getting satisfaction spiritually.
THe bottomline is DONT BE CARRIED AWAY... and think of can you afford to loose....

Saturday, January 21, 2006

I was waken up by a bad dream. I dream bout me not studying for a exam that day. That freaks me out as usual. Parents alway that I give preasure myself all the time... So, I woke up really early today - 9.30am.

At 11.15am, Veronica and I head out for the bus stop to meet up with Wai Lee. Damn the no.1 bus. Usually we got to wait for it for a very long time, ironically today, a few went pass in front of us when we waited for 62 63 at a different stop.
Luckily she wasnt there yet when we arrived therefore we went in FCUK. Man their stuff are expensive after sale -_-. Veronica spotted a bag I spotted last week =), but its still pretty pricely after the discount, so we got to give up. I saw a skirt which is really nice (I think so). I SOOOO WANTED to buy, but after seeing my shopping bag for the past 2 weeks, I think its better if I stop NOW!! -_-. So we ran for our purse's life from FCUK to Fenwick to refund my stuff.

THe lady working at the counter was really friendly and helpful. Without any doubt, she refunded me the money (Thats their policy). From Fenwick we went to Miss Selfridge. It wasnt in our plan. We walked past it and as usual, our feet lost control and walked in. I managed to get some stuff there which are on sale ^^.
Finished Miss Selfridge, we went to Jasmine for lunch. Wai Lee wanted to try the Beef Noodles there. According to Veronica & Brian, its really nice, but I dont like it. We had Dan-tart there. DAN TART make me feeeel reallly content, happy, loved. ITS THE BEST FOOOOOD!!!! I can have dan-tart everyday and wont feel sick =).
I shared a plate of fried beef noodles with Wai Lee cause I wanted to have Bo Loh Bao & dan-tart.
What a coincidence, Brian was having lunch with his classmates in Jasmine too. I think guys will always want to be renown. Thats why he paid for our table as his girlfriend's sitting with us. Its a goood thing, at least I got a free LUNCH =) .
I then takeaway 6 dan-tarts and 2 ham sui kok (some dim-sum stuff) .

Veronica got her contact lense solution from Superdrug. To those who are coming to UK and are wearing contact lenses, if you want to save, bring LOTS of those solution here. The middle pack is selling for £9 (Renu brand). THATS VERY EXPENSIVE MAN!!! Luckily I m not wearing.. hehe...
Got some souvenirs from Sports World. One of them is a England Men jersey for my cousin brother in Ipoh.

We were pretty tired at 3.30pm and Veronica got to company Brian to a car show in Sunderland later, so we went back not long after paying a few shops visit... haha...
